We are excited to announce that the Pain Research Forum (PRF) is joining forces with the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).

Merging with IASP will help PRF grow its content and audience, develop new features, and advance its efforts to improve information sharing and dialogue between pain researchers throughout the world.

“We are thrilled to partner with the International Association for the Study of Pain,” said Neil Andrews, PRF Executive Editor. “Our mission has always been to foster the sort of discussion and collaboration that will speed the acquisition of new knowledge and its translation into novel treatments for chronic pain. IASP is an ideal partner in these efforts, considering its long-standing commitment to the scientific study of pain and translating that knowledge into improved pain care throughout the world.”

“Merging our respective capabilities will allow IASP to increase its support of the international pain research community by providing an integrated web platform that fosters scientific collaboration and enhances professional educational and networking opportunities,” said Judith A. Turner, IASP President.

Launched in 2011 as a program supported by the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center, PRF will now fully merge with IASP and immediately benefit from IASP’s established infrastructure, expertise and long-term commitment to advancing pain research. Building upon the complementary strengths of each organization, the new IASP Pain Research Forum will provide a unified hub for pain researchers across the globe, where they will find the latest news and information on pain research, connect with their colleagues, and discuss the ideas that are moving the field forward.

All PRF content, including weekly news stories, Papers of the Week, commentaries and discussions, webinars, and other features will continue to be provided as a free service to the pain research community. All content on RELIEF, PRF’s site for the lay public, will also remain freely available. PRF’s Scientific Advisory Board will continue to support and guide the online forum, and help ensure that PRF remains a strong and editorially independent forum for the exchange of ideas.

Speaking of the new partnership, Adrian Ivinson, PRF Founder and Publisher, added, “This merger is a natural and most welcome next step in PRF’s journey. IASP provides a highly respected and well-established home for PRF. Together they will provide the international pain research community with a high quality and independent venue to share information and knowledge, with the ultimate aim of advancing the field and helping patients.”
