PRF announces the appointment of Neil Andrews as Executive Editor, and Pat McCaffrey as News Editor, effective February 1, 2014.

Since February 2012, Andrews and McCaffrey have managed PRF together as part-time co-Executive Editors, sharing responsibility for all website operations. During that time, the PRF community has grown to more than 1,450 members from 58 countries around the world. Site activity has blossomed, with a 50 percent increase in visitors and page views in 2013 compared to 2012. The evolution of PRF calls for a new editorial leadership structure that accommodates current growth and paves the way for future development of the only Web community devoted exclusively to pain research.

Under the new staffing arrangement, Andrews becomes Executive Editor, taking responsibility for the site as a whole. McCaffrey steps into a newly created position of News Editor, where she will direct PRF’s news operations, including weekly news, conference coverage, Papers of the Week, and member-contributed comments. These changes will boost the overall editorial effort and provide a more concentrated focus on each of the important aspects of managing PRF.

With this reorganization of editorial leadership, PRF looks forward to continuing to provide the pain research community with content of the highest quality and developing new initiatives that will help steer the conversation about pain and advance the field in its efforts to translate basic knowledge into new treatments for patients.
