The Al-Hasani and McCall laboratories will be opening in June 2017! Multiple postdoctoral positions are available in both labs at the Center for Clinical Pharmacology, a new joint venture between Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The Center is bringing together neuroscientists, pharmacologists, chemists, and engineers to focus on innovative scientific approaches to pain management, affective disorders, and addiction.
Our laboratories will focus on finding circuit-level neuroscience solutions to important clinical problems, with a particular focus on the negative affective states associated with chronic pain and the potential for analgesic abuse. In addition to well-established behavioral and physiological neuroscience approaches (e.g., in vivo optogenetics/chemogenetics, whole-cell and single-unit electrophysiology, microdialysis, freely moving behavior, and in vivo calcium imaging), our laboratories will actively collaborate with engineers, chemists, mathematicians, and industry partners to develop new technology and approaches to improve analgesic and psychiatric treatments.
Candidates from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply, especially those from neuroscience, pharmacology, chemistry, engineering, and mathematics who are seeking to expand the scope of their current work. If interested, please send your CV, a list of three references, and a brief description of past and future research interests to Ream Al-Hasani and/or Jordan McCall.
